There was a mild drama in Ekpan, Warri, Delta State, when a tricycle rider diverted two women who had boarded his vehicle to the Ekpan Police Station instead of their agreed destination. The incident unfolded after two other women, who had been riding in the tricycle, alighted and handed over a newborn baby to the remaining passengers, stating that “the balance has been paid.”
Upon hearing this, the tricycle driver became suspicious and took the women to the police station, where they were subsequently arrested. The two women later confessed to purchasing the baby for N2 million from a baby factory in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where teenage girls are reportedly impregnated and their babies sold. The Delta State Police Command is now investigating the matter and searching for other individuals involved in the illegal transaction.
