The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the recent Edo State governorship election, labeling it a “daylight robbery.” The party accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of violently manipulating the election results.
During a press conference, Adamawa PDP Chairman Barrister Ahmed Shehu, alongside other party officials, urged swift legal action to address the situation. Shehu affirmed the party’s complete support for the national leadership, including the stance of National Chairman Umar Damagum and PDP governors.
He highlighted that the state party aligns with the claims made by the PDP’s National Campaign Council Chair, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, stating that Dr. Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate, received the most votes.
“We denounce the desperation of the APC, which resorted to violent tactics to undermine the will of the Edo people,” Shehu stated, warning that such actions threaten Nigeria’s democracy and could increase political apathy.
The Adamawa PDP expressed unwavering support for the national party leadership in taking necessary legal steps to recover what they call a “stolen mandate.” Regarding the fate of Umar Damagum, the party insisted that he should be allowed to complete his term as chairman.
