Akpabio Expresses Sympathy for Nigerians Facing Economic Challenges
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has expressed deep empathy for Nigerians grappling with economic difficulties. Speaking during the resumption of the Senate after an eight-week recess, Akpabio acknowledged the widespread hardship caused by inflation and rising living costs, despite some improvements reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Akpabio emphasized that the Senate’s duty is to respond with “urgency and compassion” to the ongoing economic challenges. He stated, “Our fellow citizens have been facing significant economic pressures, struggling with inflation and an unpredictable market. We extend our deepest sympathy to every Nigerian enduring these difficult times.”
He also highlighted the progress made by President Bola Tinubu’s administration, particularly in agriculture and infrastructure development, but cautioned that these gains should not overshadow the urgent issues of national security. Akpabio called for renewed efforts to address the rising insecurity in various regions and stressed the importance of policies that promote economic stability, enhance security, and ensure social justice.
