Former Kogi lawmaker and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Senator Dino Melaye, has shared his reaction following Asue Ighodalo’s defeat in the Edo State governorship election to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Monday Okpebholo.
As reported by Channels TV, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Senator Okpebholo the winner after he secured the highest number of votes.
In a post on his social media page, Melaye criticized the PDP leadership, specifically targeting the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Damagun. He remarked that under Damagun’s leadership, the PDP is “in the departure lounge, waiting for the boarding pass,” implying that the party is on the brink of collapse. Melaye added that the outcome in Edo would seem insignificant compared to future challenges for the PDP, alleging that there are more APC members within the National Working Committee (NWC) than PDP members.
Melaye’s post read:
“With the destroyer called Damagun at the helm, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass. The experience in Edo will be just the beginning. There are more APC members in the NWC than PDP.”
