Edo 2024: Mercy Johnson’s Husband, Prince Okojie, Survives Assassination Attempt
Prince Odi Okojie, husband of Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt just days before the Edo State governorship election. The attack, believed to have been carried out by political thugs, was foiled by security personnel assigned to Okojie, who is a federal lawmaker representing Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency.
According to Okojie’s media aide, Michael Ihaza, the incident occurred on Friday, September 20, when gunmen in a Lexus GX 470 with a Rivers State license plate (PHC 253 FF) attacked Okojie’s residence. The swift response of his security team prevented the attack, leading to the capture of two suspects while two others fled the scene. The apprehended suspects reportedly confessed to being hired by leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Esan North-East Local Government Area.
Although Prince Okojie and Mercy Johnson have yet to comment publicly on the incident, the news has stirred widespread reactions, with many expressing concerns for their safety as tensions rise ahead of the Edo State election.
