The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has issued a stern warning to Hon. Francis Waive, the representative for Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
According to Politics Nigeria, Waive faces possible disciplinary action for endorsing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), for a second term.
In a letter dated September 15, 2024, and signed by Elder Omeni Sobotie, the Delta APC State Chairman, the party condemned Waive’s endorsement as a “gross anti-party activity.” The letter stated:
“The leadership of the state Executive Committee of our great party has been made aware of a video recording posted online, showing you openly canvassing support and endorsing the second-term ambition of Governor Oborevwori. This action has gone viral, causing public opprobrium and bringing the party’s image into disrepute.”
Citing Article 21:21(I) & (ii) of the APC constitution, which forbids anti-party conduct, the letter further demanded that Waive appear within seven days to justify why he should not face severe disciplinary measures.
