Investigative journalist Jackson Ude revealed on Monday in a post on X that there is a dangerous plot to assassinate Africa’s richest billionaire, Aliko Dangote. The plot is allegedly tied to his exposure of a refinery in Malta, run by oil cartels, that has been importing substandard petroleum products into Nigeria. On July 22, Aliko Dangote alleged that oil traders and terminals had established a blending plant in Malta. According to investigative journalist Jackson Ude, a whistleblower has revealed that oil cabals in Nigeria feel threatened by Dangote’s exposure of these shady deals and have begun conspiring against him and his refinery.
The post noted that Nigeria has imported fuel worth $2.25 billion from Malta over the past nine years, with 2023 seeing the highest import levels. The informant revealed that the plot to assassinate Dangote could involve either targeting his private jet or hiring professional assassins.
A family member confirmed the threat, expressing concern and stating, “We are aware, and he (Dangote) might be as well. We only pray nothing happens to him because the consequences would be severe. The government must do everything to protect him, as his exposure of the oil industry’s corruption is a patriotic act.”
A police source noted that no official petition regarding the matter has been received, but assured that the Inspector General of Police would order an immediate investigation if necessary.
