The Department of State Services (DSS) has finally addressed the arrest of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a DSS official refused to provide details regarding Ajaero’s arrest, requesting instead that an official inquiry be directed to the DSS’s email for a formal response.
Ajaero was apprehended on Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, while preparing to board a flight to the UK for an official engagement.
At 1:03 pm, when asked for clarification, the DSS official stated, “I have no comment on Ajaero’s arrest. Kindly send an official request to our email for further details.”
This development follows the DSS’s recent shift towards reducing media exposure and intensifying covert operations. Notably, last week, Dr. Peter Afunanya, former Director of Public Relations and Strategic Communications, was reassigned to a different role.
