As the fight against insurgency and other security threats continues, troops have neutralized at least 152 terrorists, detained 109 individuals, and freed 91 abducted persons.
This information was disclosed by Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations at Defence Headquarters, Abuja, in a statement released to the press on Friday.Major General Buba emphasized that the troops are maintaining their efforts to secure victory against terrorists, insurgents, violent extremists, and others contributing to the insecurity in the country.
He stated, “The fight against terrorists, insurgents, violent extremists, and those causing insecurity in the nation continues, and our troops are keeping up the pressure to secure victory. The armed forces are making consistent progress toward the complete eradication of these threats.”Major General Buba highlighted that the military continues to adapt and improve its strategies daily in response to the evolving threats posed by terrorist groups. He emphasized that troops are actively pursuing terrorists, restricting their movements, and disrupting their operations.
He said, “This week, troops conducted targeted operations against two key terrorist commanders, successfully dismantling their strongholds. These include Sadiku Enclave in Tsora Hill, Safana LGA of Katsina State, and Alhaji Yusuf Enclave in Yadi Forest, Giwa LGA of Kaduna State.
“In addition, troops disrupted crude oil theft operations through airstrikes at Bugama, Idama, Cawtorne Channel, and Krakrama in Rivers State. Two female terrorist collaborators, involved in ransom negotiations, were also apprehended.
“Overall, troops neutralized 152 terrorists, arrested 109 suspects, and rescued 91 hostages during the week. In the South-South, they prevented crude oil theft worth approximately N795.6 million.
He added, “Troops also recovered a significant cache of 183 weapons and 4,443 rounds of ammunition, including 95 AK47 rifles, 35 locally made guns, 76 dane guns, and other heavy weaponry. Additionally, 725,920 liters of stolen crude oil and 475,250 liters of illegally refined AGO were seized.
“The dedicated men and women of the armed forces continue to risk their lives to ensure the safety of citizens. It is vital for civilians to consistently support the troops in this ongoing war.”
