A prominent chieftain of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Otunba Benedict Akika, widely known as “Benee” in Olohundaaba, has been reportedly kidnapped. The incident occurred at Akika’s residence in Idi-Ape, along Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda Road, Ibadan, the state capital.
The kidnapping took place on Wednesday, September 4, in the Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Ibadan, Oyo State – Armed assailants have reportedly abducted Otunba Benedict Akika, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde, popularly known as “Benee” in Olohundaaba. The kidnapping occurred in the Lagelu Local Government Area on the night of Wednesday, September 4.
According to Vanguard, an unconfirmed report indicates that Otunba Benedict Akika was abducted at his Idi-Ape residence, located along Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda Road in Ibadan. Akika, who is the founder of the Omituntun Benedict Foundation (OBF), was reportedly kidnapped under unclear circumstances. Another unconfirmed report claims that one person was killed during the attack. However, authorities have assured the public that they are actively managing the situation, as reported by The Sun.The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, has not yet commented on the incident as he has not responded to calls.
